Canyoning (known as canyoneering in the U.S.) is traveling in canyons using a variety of techniques that may include other outdoor activities such as walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling (rapelling), and/or swimming. Although hiking down a canyon that is non-technical (canyon hiking) is often referred to as canyoneering, the terms canyoning and canyoneering are more often associated with technical descents — those that require abseils (rappels) and ropework, down-climbing, technical jumps, and swims. .
Canyoning, we descend spectacularly landscaped and unpolluted rivers, visiting otherwise inaccessible places. To do it, it‘s not essential to have any special prerequisites although a good physical shape and the ability to swim can make your progression easier. While abseiling down a waterfall, or jumping to some pristine swimming pool below, our determination is put to test and the heartbeat rate increases but… …it’s quite a safe activity.
